DEF LEPPARD's 'Hysteria' To Receive 'Deluxe Edition' Reissue Treatment
August 9, 2006DEF LEPPARD will be releasing a "deluxe edition" of their classic album "Hysteria" (1987) before the end of the year. No further details are currently available.
"Hysteria" was recorded in 1986 at Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, Netherlands; Windmill Lane Studio 2 in Dublin, Ireland; and Studio Des Dames in Paris, France with producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The LP is one of only a handful of albums (and the third in rock history) that has charted seven singles or more on the U.S. Hot 100: "Women" (#80),"Animal" (#19),"Hysteria" (#10),"Pour Some Sugar On Me" (#2),"Love Bites" (#1),"Armageddon It" (#3) and "Rocket" (#12). It remained on the charts for three years and has sold 18 million copies worldwide, according to Wikipedia.
Equally as successful (if not infamous) was the accompanying "Hysteria" world tour which ran for 15 months and saw DEF LEPPARD perform "In The Round". The concept proved wildly popular with fans, as evidenced in the videos for "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Armageddon It" (and was later used again for the "Adrenalize" tour).
The DEF LEPPARD/JOURNEY tour kicked off on June 23 and is scheduled to run until September 23, when they close out the trek in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
DEF LEPPARD is supporting their new covers album called "Yeah!", which has sold 134,000 copies in the United States so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD is said to be "a heartfelt and hard-rocking tribute" to DEF LEPPARD's musical heroes of the late '60s and '70s — THE KINKS, BADFINGER, T. REX, DAVID BOWIE, SWEET, ROXY MUSIC, MOTT THE HOOPLE, FREE, FACES, and THIN LIZZY.
